I have big news. I am going to walk in a 5k race on September 14th. I'm obviously not planning on taking first place, but I am planning on finishing. I am so excited. I was asked to join the 2019 Utah Heart and Stroke Walk as a survivor. I was invited to join the Edwards Lifesciences team to help raise funds to save lives from this country's number 1 and number 5 killers - heart disease and stroke. What are the odds that I experienced both killers...and survived. Go me! I am looking for others to support my team by joining me in walking, running, donating or cheering me on at the 5k.

To walk/run with me please sign up at:

Company name:

Edwards Lifesciences

Team name:

We got U beat

This is a competition between different companies and teams. If you would like to donate, we would love your help. It does not cost you anything to register. Let me know if you end up registering and I'll watch for you. Thank you for your support.

I was also invited to visit Edwards Lifesciences and see the amazing work they do. They design and build artificial heart valves (pediatric and adults) and delivery systems for minimally invasive surgeries. It's impressive to see how many people are involved in making these. The building they work in is incredible. Scott Hudson, Amy Brevil, Cody Green and Madi Legerski who work for Edwards Lifesciences gave me a tour of the facility. It was an amazing experience.

I also had the chance to meet Sister Heidi Woahn. She is married to Elder William B. Woahn from the Area Seventies for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She came to my house to visit me and hear my story. It was such an honor to visit with her. That evening I attended stake conference where she spoke and it was exactly what I needed to hear. She is an inspiring women. I love how her focus is on our children and families.

I'm so grateful for the experiences and people my transplant and other medical needs have brought into my life. I have gained a great deal of knowledge and joy from meeting and getting to know others from many walks of life.
