Sandra Smith
I'm a 42 year old wife to a loving husband, mother to one talented child, and the youngest of 7 children to supportive parents. I've been told that I'm the only individual born with my complicated congenital heart defect. I have a single ventricle, interrupted aorta, transposition of the great vessels, patent ductus arteriosus, pulmonary hypertension, and Eismenger's syndrome.

When I was 6 months old my heart defect was discovered after I went into congestive heart failure. My parents were informed that I would only live 2-3 months and to take me home and let me die.

Apparently, Heavenly Father has a different plan for me. So when people tell me there is "a reason" I'm still here on earth, I tell them that I must have not figured what that "reason" is because I'm still here.

When others ask me what my life expectancy is, I tell them I don't know...What's yours?

Update:
I received a heart and double lung transplant on May 5, 2018.
